ASTM A179 / ASME SA179 Seamless Tubes Specifications

Parameter Description
Material Low-Carbon Steel (for cold-drawn tube application). Note: “A179” is a standard for seamless cold-drawn low-carbon steel tubes, not a plate/round bar material designation.
Thickness For Tube Wall Thickness: Typically 0.83mm (0.0325 in) to 12.7mm (0.500 in) as per standard. The stated range (0.1mm-300mm) is incorrect for this product.
Standard ASTM A179 / ASME SA179
Technique Cold Drawn, Seamless (for tubes). “Hot rolled, cold rolled” is incorrect for ASTM A179 tubes.
Surface Treatment Clean, blasting and painting according to customer requirement. (Note: Standard finish is bare/cold drawn.)
